Thomson Reuters’ Highly Cited Researchers 2017

Three UCLA Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty are among the most influential scientists in their fields for 2017, as determined by Thomson Reuters.

Those recognized were Prof. David Eisenberg for biochemistry and Prof. Xiangfeng Duan and Prof. Jeffrey Zink for chemistry.   

The purpose of the Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers List is to identify contemporary authors whose research has significantly influenced others in their field. The list names nearly 3,000 scientists from around the world whose studies were among the top 1 percent most referenced in studies from their field.  (Read more about the rankings methodology.)

This year the media organization’s list included 30 UCLA faculty from a broad cross-section of campus units including cardiology, hematology-oncology, psychiatry, neurology, public health, clinical nutrition, behavioral science, ecology and evolutionary biology, environment and sustainability, bioengineering, radiology, engineering, physics, mathematics, neurobiology, and  astronomy.
