Five UCLA Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty are among the most influential scientists in their fields for 2016, as determined by Thomson Reuters.
Those recognized were Xiangfeng Duan and Ric Kaner for Materials Science, David Eisenberg for Biology & Biochemistry, and Ken Houk and Jeff Zink for Chemistry.
The purpose of the Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers List is to identify contemporary authors whose research has significantly influenced others in their field. The list names nearly 3,000 scientists from around the world whose studies were among the top 1 percent most referenced in academic journals from 2003 to 2014. This year the media organization’s list included 35 UCLA faculty from a broad cross-section of campus units including agricultural sciences, clinical medicine, computer science, engineering, envirnoment/ecology, geosciences, molecular biology & genetics, neuroscience & behavior, physics, psychiatry/psychology, social sciences, and space science.
