The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry invites applications for full-time Academic Coordinator position to lead and coordinate educational programs and initiatives for the department.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA seeks applications for an Academic Coordinator to lead and coordinate educational programs and initiatives. The position is full time and would begin the Fall quarter (October) of 2013. Responsibilities will include coordinating outreach programs to encourage students to enter the department’s Master’s and PhD programs; develop admission policies and determine priority for enrollment, promote and maintain program growth and student recruitment and retention for summer sessions; initiate, coordinate and co-write proposals to NIH, NSF, and other funding agencies for sponsoring Chemistry and Biochemistry programs. Qualified candidates will have experience working with students in research-oriented science-based academic programs as well as working with students from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, applicants should have demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged and underrepresented students.
