Professors Jim Bowie, Patrick Harran and Yung-Ya Lin have agreed to serve as the new Vice Chairs of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Bowie will serve as Vice Chair of Academic Personnel, Harran will serve as Vice Chair of Graduate Education and Lin will serve as Vice Chair of Undergraduate Education.
“Jim, Patrick, and Yung-Ya have vigorous research programs, impressive teaching and scholarly credentials, and a great track record of leadership and dedicated service.” said Department Chair Catherine Clarke. “They have agreed to help me make sure that our Department maintains an upward course of excellence in research and education. I know they will do a great job and I thank them for taking on these vital and time consuming jobs.”

“Many thanks to former chair Miguel Garcia-Garibay and the previous vice chairs, Jim Bowie, Neil Garg, and Ben Schwartz, for their dedicated service to the department during the last administration.” said Clarke. “Jim has generously agreed to stay on in his role and Neil has graciously agreed to stay on through the summer to help us transition into the new academic year.”
