Liana Hie (Garg Lab) has been awarded the 2014-15 American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Organic Chemistry Graduate Fellowship, sponsored by Amgen.
The 2014-15 fellowship recognizes outstanding third and fourth year graduate students in organic chemistry and provides a stipend for $26,000, which includes $750 for travel to the 2015 National Organic Symposium (NOS) where the fellows will present a poster on their work. Each of the fellowships is sponsored by a prominent company, organization, or individual endowment.
The program has awarded over 385 fellowships since 1981, including 10 UCLA awardees. Past UCLA winners include Adam Goetz (2012-13, Garg Lab), Kyle Quasdorf (2010-11, Garg Lab), Joann Um (2009-10, Houk Lab), Theresa Chang (2000-01, Stoddart Lab), Pablo Davidov (2000-01, Jung Lab), Thomas Keating (1996-97, Armstrong Lab), John Anthony (1991-92, Diederich Lab), Daniel O’Leary (1989-90, Anet Lab), and Max Kopelevich (1986-87, Anet Lab).
