UCLA Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) were recognized by the Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society (SCALACS) for receiving an Honorable Mention Student Chapter Award from the American Chemical Society.
The Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society presented a Certificate of Appreciation to UCLA SMACS members Kenny Chen and Sara Shu (Student Presidents) and Prof. Richard Kaner (Faculty Advisor) in recogntion of their 2013 Honorable Mention Student Chapter Award, presented to them earlier in the year by the American Chemical Society.

The ceremony took place on May 17, 2013 at the annual Southern California Section of ACS Educational Awards Banquet, honoring students and teachers from the local High School Chemistry Olympiad and local ACS scholars.
