ACS National Awards:
Professor Miguel García-Garibay, Dean of the Division of Physical Sciences and Senior Dean of the UCLA College, will receive the 2025 ACS James Flack Norris Award in Physical Organic Chemistry.
His award symposium will take place on Sunday, March 23 (2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) in the San Diego Convention Center, Room 30D, with García-Garibay speaking at approximately 5:05 p.m.
Professor Neil Garg, the Kenneth N. Trueblood Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will receive the 2025 David A. Evans Award for the Advancement and Education of Organic Synthesis. Garg is the inaugural recipient of this prestigious national award, which honors former UCLA Chemistry & Biochemistry faculty member, Professor David A. Evans.
His award symposium will take place on Monday, March 24, 2025 (2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) in the San Diego Convention Center Room 30E, with Garg speaking at approximately 5:10 p.m.
Garcia-Garibay and Garg will receive their awards at the ACS National Awards Banquet, held on Tuesday, March 25.
ACS Divisional Awards:
Professor Emerita Arlene Russell will receive the ACS Division of Chemical Education (CHED) 2025 Outstanding Service to the Division Award during the CHED Social on Sunday, March 23 (5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.).
Professor Yi Tang will receive the 2025 Marvin J. Johnson Award in Microbial and Biochemical Technology from the ACS Division of Biochemical Technology (BIOT). His award symposium will take place on Monday, March 24 (11:10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) in the San Diego Convention Center, Room 27A/B.
