The UCLA Joint Research Safety Initiative (JRSI) is hosting a sustainability open house for Chemistry & Biochemistry researchers on Tuesday, January 21.
Everyone is invited to attend this fun, interactive and educational event which will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Young Hall 2033. Free cookies and swag will be provided.
JRSI is a grassroots safety initiative run by UCLA Chemistry & Biochemistry graduate students that aims to build the ownership of research safety among the researchers. In line with one of their foremost goals of improving safety awareness and education, they are collaborating with campus resources to organize this event.
At the open house researchers will learn about:
• My Green Labs Program at UCLA – a non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable laboratory spaces.
• UC’s Zero Waste 2020 – helping UC campuses achieve the initiative to send zero waste to the landfill by 2020.
• LA Green Business Program (LAGBP) – The City of Los Angeles program which provides resources to help businesses become greener and more sustainable.
• Waste & Resources Management including e-Waste
• Hazardous Waste
• Recycling & Composting
• Sustainable Resources
There will also be a questions and answers session with Ritika Singh, Green Labs Program Manager, and Dr. Kikei Wong, Zero Waste Coordinator.
