SMACS represented UCLA at STEAM Nation 2013, one of the largest events in LA County celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math education (STEAM).
UCLA Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) was invited to be a part of this event, inspiring nearly 2400 students from the 1st through 8th grades, igniting a passion for the sciences, and kindling an interest to pursue science in their futures. The event was held at West LA College, on October 19, 2013. The group hosted a booth presenting experiments associated with chemistry in food, including: Dissolving M&Ms, M&M Chromatography, “Electric Slime”, and “Breaking the Tension”.
