Congratulations to our current graduate and undergraduate students and alumni who have received prestigious 2023 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Awards and Honorable Mentions.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions. The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend and a cost of education allowance to the institution.
2023 NSF Graduate Research Fellowships (GRFP) were awarded to graduate students, Helen Lin (Sletten), Georgia Scherer (Garg), Katherine Snell (Maynard) and undergraduate researchers Palak Jariwala (Garcia-Garibay), and Lauren Tan (Caram), who will be off to Caltech next year.
Our alumni who received GRFPs are Luke Elissiry ‘21 (Liu), now a graduate student at UC Berkeley; Matthew Hennefarth ‘20 (Alexandrova), now a graduate student the University of Chicago; Alana Rose Meyer ’22 (Garcia-Garibay), now a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison; Vivian Wall ‘20 (Tolbert), now a graduate student at UC Berkeley; Elena Wang ’20 (Hirshberg), who will be off to Columbia University in fall, and James Wang ’21 (Tang), now at Caltech.
2023 Honorable Mentions by NSF, also a significant national academic achievement, were accorded to graduate students Judy Cheng (P. Weiss), Nicole Cheung (Clubb) and Alexandra Turmon (Backus), and alumnus Andy Nguyen ‘21 (Quinlan), now a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania.
