For a second year, Professor Joseph Loo has been named as one of the world’s leading analytical chemists by The Analytical Scientist magazine.

Loo appears in The Power List 2020, which features 60 scientists, nominated by their peers and selected by a judging panel, and celebrates achievement in analytical chemistry across the globe. He was also featured in their Power List 2019.

An expert in the mass spectrometry characterization of proteins, protein complexes, and their post-translational modifications, Loo is a faculty member in the UCLA departments of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry in the David Geffen School of Medicine. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, published by the American Chemical Society. To learn more about the Loo’s research, visit his group’s website.

According to The Analytical Scientist, The Power List highlights the “tremendous range of talent, ingenuity and leadership present across all corners of analytical science”. This year, they have done so by highlighting the pioneering work and passion of 10 leading minds from each major continent (Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, North America).
