Departmental Opportunities

• Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
  • For undergraduates that are conducting research with a Chemistry or Biochemistry faculty mentor during the summer. Recipients will be awarded a $4,500 stipend.
• Departmental Award
  • Students must be nominated by a Chemistry & Biochemistry faculty member. There is no application. 
• Commencement Award
  • Students must be nominated by a Chemistry & Biochemistry faculty member. There is no application.

• The CSSE supports students through all aspects of the scholarship search and application process. Through workshops, individual counseling, and other services, they work with all UCLA students, regardless of major or financial aid eligibility.
• Quick Numbers:
  • The CSSE provides workshops and 1:1 counseling services to over 5,000 students a year.
  • The CSSE administers over $2.5 million in annual UCLA donor scholarship funds, and counsels recipients, ensuring their success at UCLA and beyond.
  • Last year alone, CSSE students reported over $700,000 in external scholarship winnings.
