Majors for Undergraduates
The Department offers a number of majors and concentrations for undergraduate students interested in the study of Chemistry and Biochemistry. For more information related to the degree requirements for these majors, please view the following:
- Biochemistry Major 2023-2024
- Chemistry Major 2023-2024
- Chemistry-Materials Science Major 2023-2024
- General Chemistry Major 2023-2024 (*for Secondary School Teaching)
These degree programs will prepare students for a number of different options after graduation, including Chemistry- and Biochemistry-related careers in industry or graduate study in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry also provide excellent preparation for medical, pharmacy, dental, and veterinary school.

Transfer Information
If you are a transfer student or you have taken courses at another institution, your academic coursework may be transferable. If you attended another University of California campus, a California State University, or a California community college, you may use ASSIST.org to determine the transferability of your courses.
