Gold Family Grant-in-Aid for Chemistry, Biochemistry, and chemistry-materials science Majors
Thanks to the continued generosity of the Dr. Marvin and Sophye M. Gold Family Foundation, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry can support promising young chemists with financial need and encourage undergraduates to pursue careers in the chemical profession.
The recipient will be selected based on the following criteria:
1. The student must be a regularly enrolled Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemistry-Materials Science major in the sophomore to the first quarter senior year.
2. The student must have shown aptitude and promise as demonstrated by laboratory and class work, as a potentially creative individual for the chemical profession.
3. The student is preferably not at the top of his/her academic class, but would be at the B to A- level.
4. The student’s family must demonstrate a real financial need for support.
The Application consists of:
1. The Application Form.
2. A statement of your financial need.
3. A statement of your plans to use your Chemistry degree in your career.
4. Two letters of recommendation.
This award is considered financial aid, and will affect your financial aid package for this academic year.

You may turn a paper application into the office, or you may email your application to markb@chem.ucla.edu. Letters of recommendation may be turned in either in a sealed envelope or they may be emailed directly to Mark by the professor.
