Seaborg Symposium & Medal Award

The UCLA Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is pleased to announce that on Saturday, November 10, 2018, the 2018 Glenn T. Seaborg Medal will be awarded to Professor Emeritus Robert Glaeser (University of California, Berkeley) and Nobel Laureate Professor Richard Henderson (MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge).
This annual celebration centers around the science of the year's Seaborg Medalists. For this year's event we will have an afternoon symposium entitled "The Revolution in Electron Cryo-Microscopy", with talks by Glaeser and Henderson and two other prominent scientists - Professor Helen Saibil (Birkbeck College, London) and Professor Elizabeth Villa (University of California, San Diego).
The symposium will take place at 1 p.m. in the UCLA California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) auditorium. A poster session by postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students will take place before the symposium in the CNSI lobby starting at noon. The Seaborg Medal will be presented to Glaeser and Henderson at the evening awards banquet in the UCLA Luskin Center. The evening events will begin with a reception starting at 6:00 p.m. Awards will also be presented to the top poster presenters at the dinner.
