Boyer Cram Libby Teacher Scholar 2018

Boyer/Cram/Libby Teacher-Scholar (Post Ph.D. Research/Instruction Position) - University of California, Los Angeles

The UCLA Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry (www.chemistry.ucla.edu) is pleased to announce openings for the 2018 Boyer/Cram/Libby Teacher-Scholar program. Three Teacher-Scholar positions are open. They honor UCLA Nobel Laureates Paul D. Boyer, Donald J. Cram, and Willard F. Libby and recognize their many contributions to the advancement of chemistry and biochemistry. The Teacher Scholars are expected to serve for three-years, with the initial appointment (Assistant Adjunct) being for one year and subject to renewal for the second and third years. Responsibilities include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, writing and grading exams and problem sets, supervising teaching assistants. Notably, Teacher Scholars will also conduct cutting edge research with a sponsoring faculty mentor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Qualified candidates will be recent (within 3 years) Ph.D. recipients and have demonstrated excellence in their previous research and teaching positions. We welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research, and community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. Candidates with expertise aligned with our biochemistry faculty are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates should provide a cover letter, which includes the names of ~3 UCLA Chemistry & Biochemistry faculty members whose research is of most interest to them; a curriculum vitae; a summary of research accomplishments; and a statement of teaching philosophy. In addition, candidates should arrange for 3 letters of recommendation to be uploaded to UCLA Academic Recruit.
