About Our Speaker

Dr. Blois is a biochemist turned business development professional with broad interests in bridging communication between those in business and those in science. She is committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists through involvement in scientific outreach and education. Before joining Amgen in 2012, Dr. Blois was a Principal Scientist of Quality Control Methods Validation and Development at global healthcare company Grifols, Inc. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of San Diego in 2004 and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UCLA in 2010. As a graduate student conducting research in Prof. James Bowie’s group, Dr. Blois developed a novel method to study membrane protein folding. As a graduate student, she interned with the UCLA Office of Technology Transfer. She has served as President, Vice President and Outreach Committee Chair for the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Los Angeles/Ventura Chapter.
