Southern California Undergraduate Research Conference (SCURC)
Sponsored by the Southern California section of the American Chemical Society
Saturday April 29, 2017
8:30am to 4:00pm
UCLA Campus Young Hall and Molecular Sciences Building
Hosted by UCLA Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
The Southern California Undergraduate Research Conference in Chemistry and Biochemistry is an annual event open to all undergraduates throughout southern California. This is an excellent opportunity for students to present their research to an audience of their peers. Students may submit abstracts for either oral or poster presentations or attend the meeting to learn what research other students are engaged in. Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty are very welcome, but only undergraduate students may give presentations. UCLA Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is proud to host this year's event.
All conference activities will occur in Young Hall and Molecular Sciences Building classrooms, break-out rooms, seminar rooms, and outside atrium in front of the CS classrooms.
The 2017 SCURC Keynote Speaker is
Dianne Newman, Ph.D.
Gordon M. Binder/Amgen Professor of Biology and Geobiology, Division of Biology and Biological Engineering; Executive Officer for Molecular Biology
California Institute of Technology
The importance of growing slowly: roles for redox-active "antibiotics" in microbial survival and development.
