Ranked among the country's top ten academic libraries in North America by the Association of Research Libraries, the UCLA Library consists of the Charles E. Young Research Library, the College Library, and several subject libraries, including the Science & Engineering Library with three physical locations and the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library. Collectively, they contain more than 8 million volumes with nearly 80,000 serial titles received regularly. The UCLA Library also provides access to a growing collection of digital resources including general reference works, electronic journals, and other full-text titles.
Electronic Resources, Access, and Links
Beginning with two Web accessible electronic journals in 1996, "Journal of Molecular Biology" and "Journal of Biological Chemistry", the world of scholarship has moved rapidly into the digital era. UCLA students, faculty, and staff with valid UCLA Logon IDs can access restricted, licensed resources from home using UCLA's Bruin Online proxy or VPN (Virtual Private Network) campus servers. Most libraries and other campus locations offer wireless access.
