Introduction

Dear Prospective Applicant:

We are pleased that you are interested in graduate work in Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA.

The application deadline is January 15.

How to Apply to the Ph.D. Program

Step 1:

Complete the Department Application

  • Select one research area (Inorganic, Organic, or Physical)
  • Mail the Department Application to the Graduate Office

Step 2:

UCLA Graduate Application

The Application Fee is $90 for U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents.

Step 3:

Submit all supplementary materials to the Graduate Office

  • Statement of Purpose
  • Official GRE Score
  • English Requirement (one of the below)
    • Official TOEFL score of at least 560 on the paper exam or 220 on the computer exam
    • Official TOEFL iBT score of at least 87 (Writing: 25, Speaking: 24, Reading: 21, Listening: 17)
    • Official IELTS overall band score of at least 7.0
  • Two (2) Official Transcripts
    • One copy in English and the language of instruction is required
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
