The Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Sylvia Winstein was
held at the Faculty Center on Friday, October 23. Several of our faculty and others from the
University, including Chancellor Emeritus Charles Young,
talked about Sylvia and her impact on UCLA. The Winstein family,
including Carolee, Prof. of Kinesiology at USC, and Bruce, Prof. of
Physics at Chicago, also participated, and Del Venerable
played the piano with flutist Allison Winstein, Sylvia's
granddaughter. It was a wonderful event for someone who did a
great deal for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
